Polyethylene film (backplane):

This is the back/bottommost sheet of a typical disposable diaper. They are hydrophobic nonwoven films. This part of the diaper is impermeable to liquids (ie urine). Sometimes polypropylene film can also be used. This part is responsible for preventing urine from leaking through the diaper.

Breathable/imitation cloth back panel:

Sometimes, a thin polypropylene non-woven fabric sheet is used to give this polyethylene backsheet a breathable/cloth-like appearance. The process is accomplished by using a hot melt process or a hot pressing method that is directly extruded into a nonwoven fabric.

The cloth-like backing of disposable diapers is not a real woven fabric, but a polypropylene non-woven film.
